Message to the Class of 2020 – Conferral of Degrees May 12
Dear Members of the Graduating Class of 2020,
As we approach the original date for Spring Convocation, we recognize that while we are not yet able to celebrate together in person, this is your moment. You have completed your course work and you are soon to be a graduate of St. Thomas University! Over the years you’ve spent with us, you have worked hard and made us proud. We know that you will continue to do so as alumni. Congratulations!
We will be celebrating your accomplishments as a class virtually as best we can until we can do so in person. We also recognize that you have worked hard to earn this credential and deserve to receive it as soon as possible. In addition to the information below, please continue to watch your email, check the ÎçÒ¹av website, and follow ÎçÒ¹av social media channels for updates and messages specific to the Class of 2020.
Conferral of Degrees – May 12, 2020
Although we are not yet able to confidently set a date for an in-person Convocation, degrees will be conferred upon graduates on the original Spring Convocation date of Tuesday, May 12, 2020. After this date, graduates will officially become St. Thomas University alumni and hold their degrees.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at 5:00 pm, the Graduation List will be sent to members of the Grad Class via email and posted to the University website. All graduating students will be asked to check for their name, ensure proper spelling, hometowns, etc., and to inform Shauna Foote, Associate Registrar (shaunas@stu.ca) by 12 noon on Monday, May 11, 2020 if there are any errors.
Diplomas
Diplomas will be mailed to graduates after Tuesday, May 12 via Canada Post directly to the address indicated on the application to graduate. If your address has changed or needs to be updated, please contact registrarsoffice@stu.ca prior to May 11, 2020.
Framing Services
The ÎçÒ¹av Alumni Association continues to offer a diploma framing service. These frames are specially designed for ÎçÒ¹av graduates, with matts emblazoned with the University crest. Frames may be ordered through the Alumni Office. Click here for more information on ordering a frame.
Rescheduling of Convocation
Due to the ongoing situation around the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not able to confidently reschedule Convocation at this time. Although the situation in New Brunswick seems to be improving, much still remains uncertain. Many of our graduates and their families/supporters are not from the local area, and we want to ensure that any decision related to rescheduling Spring Convocation keeps them in mind.
We will continue to work on this issue as the situation evolves in the coming weeks/months, and we will keep the community updated.
Thank you, and please continue to take good care.
Karen Preston
