365 ÎçÒ¹avdents named on the 2023-2024 Deans' ListÂ
365 students at St. Thomas University were named to the Deans’ List for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Deans' List honours full-time students in Arts and Social Work who achieved a grade point average of 3.70 or better on a minimum of 30 credit hours.

At a reception to celebrate the 365 students, President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Nauman Farooqi recognized their hard work and achievement.

"Making the Deans' List is the highest standard of undergraduate academic achievement at ÎçÒ¹av and every other university in the world," said Dr. Farooqi.
"At ÎçÒ¹av, we don't teach you what to think, but how to think – how to think critically, creatively, and compassionately. As Deans' List students, it is a skill you are acquiring to a high level. It is a skill that never, ever becomes obsolete."
ÎçÒ¹avdent Michaela Hansen
Third-year Criminology and Psychology ÎçÒ¹avdent and Tommies women's basketball player Michaela Hansen noted how much the accomplishment means to her as a student-athlete.
"Being named to the Deans' List shows the effort and dedication I put into my academics while being committed to my team," said Hansen.
With her goal to attend law school, Hansen is motivated to perform well academically. Finding a discipline she is passionate about has motivated her to engage in class and continue to work hard.
"I am confident that I would not have found my love for criminology had I not decided to come to ÎçÒ¹av. Finding a discipline you are interested in or passionate about makes the work more enjoyable."
ÎçÒ¹avdent Julian Camacho
Fourth-year Criminology and Political Science ÎçÒ¹avdent Julian Camacho is proud to be on the Deans' List and is motivated by the support he receives from his loved ones.
"Not everyone has the chance to seek post-secondary education. I want to honour the hard work from my parents that allows me to study at ÎçÒ¹av," said Camacho, who is originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Camacho credits much of his success to the supportive professors at the university, making him thankful he chose to study at ÎçÒ¹av.
"My professors are always willing to help students learn proactively and refine their skills and understanding. I advise other students to reach out to their professors and take advantage of all resources available at the university."
ÎçÒ¹avdent Thomas Blizzard
For third-year Economics ÎçÒ¹avdent and Tommies volleyball player Thomas Blizzard, being named to the Deans' List marked a turning point in his academic career.
"This accomplishment means a lot to me, as I struggled academically and mentally in my first year," said Blizzard.
"To turn my academics around and enjoy the learning was very meaningful. This achievement has boosted my confidence and validated my efforts, making me want to work even harder."
Blizzard noted that ÎçÒ¹av's small class sizes and personal connections with professors have made for a positive learning environment.
"Going to class and having the professors know you has made reaching out and getting help with questions very easy. I advise students to attend office hours; the one-on-one help goes a long way."
