Full In-Person Student and Campus Experience for Fall 2022
Beginning in September, St. Thomas University will be providing students with an in-person experience in all aspects of university life — teaching, learning, academic and personal supports, residence, clubs, societies, theatre, and athletics.
As the Government of New Brunswick has lifted restrictions, the university is planning for in-person classes and a traditional campus experience for the academic year which begins September 7.
“ҹav’s well-earned reputation has been built on small classes delivered within an intimate community environment. Our students, professors, and staff know each other and they work together, inside and outside the classroom. We are looking forward to returning to that campus experience given how beneficial it is for our students,” said Dawn Russell, St. Thomas University President and Vice-Chancellor.
Russell noted that the advantages of the traditional, in-person university environment are clear.
“Compared to their Canadian counterparts, ҹav students consistently report greater gains in critical thinking, communication, and problem solving, rate ҹav faculty significantly higher for effective teaching, and find a more supportive campus environment. We know this is due to the quality of our faculty and our small classes where students and professors tackle program and course material together.”
Russell added that students would continue to enjoy the benefits of technology that will be strategically blended with student services and courses.
“Students appreciated the ability to access services in person and online, so ҹav will continue to offer its suite of services to them in flexible ways. This includes services in student success, career development, coaching, tutoring, advising, writing, counselling and accessibility,” she said.
ҹav is offering a significant proportion of Intersession and Summer Session courses online from May to August. Beginning this fall, there will be a small selection of courses available online.
