Dr. Elizabeth McKim to Receive Title of Professor Emerita
Dr. Elizabeth McKim will receive the honorary title of Professor Emerita at the 2021 Spring Convocation in recognition of her meritorious career of over 27 years at St. Thomas University.
McKim was a faculty member in the Department of English Language and Literature where she served twice as chair. She also chaired or served on every major Senate Committee, making an important contribution to the Admissions and Academic Standing Committee. As well, she served on the Board of Governors and special university committees on matters of mission and curriculum.
Dr. McKim is highly respected by her peers and students as an innovative and exemplary teacher, scholar, and mentor. She received the university's Teaching Excellence Award in 1997 and was nominated many times in subsequent years. She is an expert in the field of English Romantic literature, having published on Wordsworth, Coleridge, and Elizabeth Bishop.
Equally noteworthy are her two decades of research and scholarly work in the field of narrative studies and aging, having written and co-authored numerous books and articles on the subject. She was instrumental in the founding of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Narrative at ÎçÒ¹av and has co-edited its journal, Narrative Works, for the past decade.
